Florida Small Business Tax Deadlines: A Calendar Reference

Understand recurring Florida sales tax, RT-6, federal payroll return, and Sunbiz annual-report dates, including why payment cutoffs need separate attention.

A business calendar can contain federal filings, Florida tax reports, tax payments, and state entity reports. These belong to different agencies and do not all follow the same clock. This reference describes common recurring rules reviewed on October 13, 2026; it is not a determination of what your business must file.

Common recurring dates — applicability and exceptions must be checked
Record or filingGeneral timingImportant distinction
Florida sales and use taxDue on the 1st; late after the 20th of the month following the reporting period. The assigned reporting frequency matters. Electronic payment cutoffs can occur earlier; consult the current DR-659 calendar.
Florida Form RT-6Typically April 30, July 31, October 31, and January 31 of the following year.State wage reporting and tax payment are separate from federal payroll filings. Check electronic payment cutoffs.
Federal Form 941Generally the last day of the month after each calendar quarter.Tax deposits may be due before the return. Some timely depositors have an additional filing period under IRS rules.
Florida Sunbiz annual reportThe regular annual filing window is January 1 through May 1 for covered entities. This is an entity-information report, not an income-tax return.

These are recurring rules, not a date-specific payment calendar. Weekends, holidays, relief provisions, form-specific exceptions, and agency processing cutoffs can change the applicable date. Income-tax returns, estimated payments, information returns, and industry-specific filings are not covered comprehensively here.

Florida reporting periods and electronic timing

Florida sales tax may be assigned to different reporting frequencies. Its due date and late-after date are not interchangeable with the deadline for initiating an electronic payment. The Department publishes Form DR-659 for electronic payment deadlines. For registered sales-tax accounts, the Department also states that a return is required for each reporting period even when no tax is due.

Quarterly payroll reports are not quarterly-only payments

Form 941 generally reports a calendar quarter, while employment-tax deposits can follow a more frequent schedule. Florida's RT-6 has a separate quarterly cycle. A complete calendar therefore distinguishes the period covered, return submission, payment initiation, and confirmation.

A useful calendar describes the task

An illustrative calendar entry can include the agency, account, reporting period, official deadline source, payment-processing cutoff, and completion evidence. A date alone does not explain which entity it belongs to. Sunbiz annual reports deserve their own entry because the state entity report is different from tax reporting.
